Veggie Bike and Dine Hits Pullman District: July 14

Explore Chicago's southside vegan-friendly eateries with friendly bicyclists when the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation and EarthSave Chicago host the fourth annual Veggie Bike and Dine on July 14, 2007. The Veggie Bike and Dine celebrates healthy dining and the diversity of Chicago’s neighborhoods while celebrating bicycling's vital relationship to food, socializing, and civic life. The menus are entirely plant-based and exclusive of meat, fish, dairy products, eggs and other animal products.Registration is $50 for Chicagoland Bicycle Federation and EarthSave Chicago members and includes a tour of the historic Pullman district. Non-members pay $55. This event will sell out. For more information, or to share your suggestions on vegan-friendly south side eateries, please contact Arline Welty, Director of Development, at 312-427-3325 ext. 237 or arline@biketraffic.org.

India Delivered

I've just returned from an amazing three weeks or so eating may way through India. Three sets of photos: one for food, another for bikes and transport, and finally scenes. Find these sets on my Flickr starting with "India 2007".

Here's the backstory (my amazing pals showed me around).

Loop Muffins and Tea

The locally owned Argo Tea in the Loop has a great location, very nice interior and has tasty vegan muffins. Read my post today on Gapers Block.

Ronny's Steakhouse, now Argo Tea, hides aside the Oriental at State and Randolph before the buildings came down for Borders and Art Institute dorms.jpgPhoto: Christopher Brunn
In the post, I mention the old Ronny's Steakhouse building. Here's a photo with it hiding between the Oriental Theatre and the building with the blue facade, taken in January 1999 from State and Randolph featuring the buildings that previously existed where the Art Institute dorms and Borders now sit.

PS: I'm happy to be posting again after an amazing three weeks or so in India.
